BRING NEWCOMB HOME 2009 RECEPTION – A REUNION WITH A PURPOSE!

We will celebrate Newcomb’s 123rd anniversary at this year’s Homecoming. A group of Newcomb College alumnae invite alumnae and supporters of Newcomb College to attend the
BRING NEWCOMB HOME RECEPTION
OCTOBER 9, 2009
3:00 P.M.
5005 ST. CHARLES AVENUE

Please, join us as we raise our voices to insist that Newcomb College be returned to its rightful place as the coordinate women’s college within Tulane University. If you will attend, please send us a note at info@newcomblives.com.

Over three years have passed since Newcomb was closed. During that time, the extraordinary progress we have seen in the effort to restore Newcomb College has proven the dedication and resilience of Newcomb alumnae and supporters.

If we go forward with an appeal, we believe that future generations will see these few years of Newcomb’s dormancy as a mere footnote to history. After all, Tulane was closed for more than four years because of the Civil War. But in this 175th year of our university’s existence, probably few take any account of those years when Tulane did not exist. We believe that the same will be true of Newcomb College in the fullness of time.

We are determined to Bring Newcomb Home, and look forward to celebrating this effort with you all at the special reception on the afternoon of October 9th. With your support and a successful appeal, next year’s reception will commemorate the college’s reinstatement in its 124th year!

BECOME A PART OF SOPHIE’S POSSE, AND LET’S BRING NEWCOMB HOME!

Sophie’s Posse t-shirts will be available for purchase at the reception. Buy one and wear it for Homecoming to make a statement and spread the word!
